This piece is truly one of a kind. To start, it was made in the 1960s by Fabiani, a Haute Couture designer in Rome. He came onto the scene in the 1950s, and was known as "Italy's master tailor."  Gloria Emreson of the New York Times described his work as "a quiet marvel of architecture." He participated in the 1951 Florence Fashion Show, which is considered the genesis of Italian couture following the second World World, churning out names such as Emilio Pucci. There, he met another couturier, Simonneta Visconti, and shortly after they were married and became collaborators.

When I came across this piece, the famous Fabiana silhouette stood out to me, but the wool was partially discolored due to improper storage. I knew I had to resurrect this piece, and I dyed it by hand, giving it this sort of ombré effect, which is truly one-of-a-kind. It was also missing its original buttons so I sourced these vintage genuine horn buttons. This cape has truly been a labor of love, and I hope it's enjoyed for years to come. The pants pictured are also available.
