Vintage Judith Leiber Snakeskin Wallet
Vintage Judith Leiber Snakeskin Wallet
This vintage Judith Leiber yellow snakeskin wallet is simultaneously a collector's objets d’art, and a highly functional everyday necessity. Folded into a small rectangle, one side unfolds to hold bills, while the other has a snap that opens to a pouch, to hold coins or other small objects. The center opening is designed to hold credit cards. It's crafted from genuine snakeskin in a gorgeous mustard hue, with hold details. A Holocaust survivor, Judith Leiber began designing handbags in her mind as a way to escape the horrors of the Swiss ghetto where the Nazis forced her to live with 60 people in a cellar. In 1963, she formally launched her namesake and her pieces have been fixtures on red carpets everywhere ever since. More than just functional objects, Judith Leiber's designs are true objets d’art: the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art holds 80 pieces in their collection, and they are known to retail for upwards of $6,000. Measures 3" wide x 2.25" tall when fully folded, and the bill holder extends to about 8.25" long. Signed "Judith Leiber" on interior plaque.
Great vintage condition; it appears to have never been used, and the original packaging in the pocket is intact. With any questions about the specific condition or size, please email shop@verybreezy.com for additional photos or measurements, as all sales are final.
