This vintage semi-precious scarab bracelet is a classic essential— every jewelry wardrobe needs at least one great vintage scarab jewel. How did a lowly specimen become an exalted figure, represented in jewelry for centuries? It started with the ancient Egyptians, who associated scarabs (aka dung beetles) with the sun god Ra, and considered the animal an important representation of personal growth, and the cycle of life. During the Victorian era, "Egyptomania" took hold, and scarabs became more popular than ever— in some cases, actual desecrated beetles were used in the jewels. As of late, we've seen houses like Gucci embrace the scarab. This bracelet features semi-precious gemstones and pearl details in 12k gold-filled (the absolute closest thing to solid gold, but drastically reduces the price; composed of a solid, substantial layer of gold mechanically bonded to a base, usually sterling silver). It measures 7 7/8" without safety chain, or with safety chain, just shy of 10" (note that the safety chain can very easily just be taken off and I would be happy to do this for you if requested). Hallmarked "1/20 12k GF" to indicated it is gold-fill (see above).
