This vintage 1980s gown features a shirred drop waist and a full patchwork skirt, complete with a matching shawl with the same patchwork as the skirt. The bodice is so incredibly flattering— the elastic shirring creates a great amount of stretch, so that it conforms to the body (which also allows it to fit a range of sizes). I also love the beautiful texture of the shirring. The sweetheart neckline, emphasized with piping, contributes to this flattering hourglass effect, and I love how the V in the back shows a little extra skin for some drama. The skirt and shawl are a patchwork mosaic of dozens of different techniques: various embroidery patterns, large-scale crochet lace, appliqué, pleating, and more. It has an additional layer, which prevents sheerness but also creates dramatic volume and sweep. The embroidery is done in both white and silver against the back— this dress is very easy to pair with any color accessories/jewelry. It's a dress that's really easy to dress up or down as well— you could wear it for a black tie evening function, or dress it down with flats/sandals and wear to dinner! The shawl is a great size to wear a number of ways— I love the tassels, which add some drama. Made in the USA.
Measurements: The bodice stretches a great deal, so it will fit a range of sizes well, likely a X-Small, Small, and Medium, but please refer to below measurements to be sure. Shown unpinned on a size X-Small and the stretch is not engaged the way it is designed to be, but it still works. Because of the flexibility, this also makes a great maternity option— one that you will still wear long after pregnancy!
