This stunning vintage 1980s lurex dress was made by designer Kevan Hall, an African American designer who trained under Halston and by the 1980s, had his own label, which retailed at luxury department stores like Bergdorf Goodman and Saks, and graced the pages of Vogue. Clearly informed by his time at Halston, Hall was known for his disco-ready glamour— his signature style continues to be referenced today by designers like Isabel Marant, who has designed pieces for recent collections nearly identical to this dress. It's crafted of silver lurex fabric, woven with actual metal to achieve the metallic finish. The draping on this piece is incredible: the fitted bodice is defined by a gathering in an extremely flattering hourglass shape. The waist looks even smaller, thanks to exaggerated shoulders and a full skirt, with a dramatic sweep. The bodice is lined, while the sleeves and skirt are unlined, which allows the skirt to really flow freely. The keyhole back is a great balance to the otherwise-covered look; there is a zip closure beneath the keyhole opening.
