Late Victorian Aesthetic Movement Floral Locket
Late Victorian Aesthetic Movement Floral Locket
This floral locket hails from the late Victorian era known as the "Aesthetic Movement," which denounced the darkness and middle-class values that had defined the beginning of the 19th century, and sought to prioritize beauty, choosing visually-pleasing aspects over those with deeper meaning. This piece understood the assignment, with so many well-executed visual elements. We have the rose relief, in gold on a guilloche silver background. Bordering this center relief is a three-dimensional floral border. This is a functioning locket that opens with a hinge, and can store a photo or anything your heart desires. The locket measures 1.25" diameter, with a total drop of 1.5" including bail. It is available on its own, or possible to add on a chain if you need one. The Vintage Mary McFadden Off-the-Shoulder Dress pictured is also available.
