This antique Victorian Whitby jet choker is a jewelry wardrobe essential— you'll wear it on its own, but it's also the perfect size for wearing with chunkier pendants attached... so many different looks in one! Made in the 19th century, it is hand-strung with Whitby jet beads, and complete with an ornate 10k gold clasp— the clasp is so pretty that I even like it worn visible in the front. When it was made, this would have been worn as a piece of mourning jewelry. While she famously grieved her husband Prince Albert's death in 1861 for the forty years that followed, Queen Victoria popularized black jewelry and mourning elements of all sorts in Victorian England, a trend the influenced fashion around the globe. It measures about 16.5" when worn. The Vintage Large Gold Cross Pendant pictured is also available, and looks so good worn on this.
