This incredible vintage early 1950s skirt suit is exquisitely shaped, very much in the style of Lilli Ann— I have seen almost an identical suit 1950s Lilli Ann suit in this same color. Since its popularity in the 1950s, this shape has been referenced by designers like Thierry Mugler, Azzedine Alaïa, and John Galliano, who showed multiple particularly similar looks in his Fall 1998 runway collection— see below! The amazing construction is integral in creating this silhouette, from the oversized collar, to the fitted bodice and pleated peplum, it creates an incredibly flattering hourglass shape. The silk-blend fabric is a gorgeous silver hue— soft yet slightly metallic, which makes it looks very special. The pencil skirt is high-waisted and fitted through the hips, contributing to that hourglass illusion. The skirt also features a lengthening seam down the front, with small embroidered details, and deep kick pleat in the back, allowing for unrestricted movement. Thoughtful details, like self fabric-covered buttons and a sweet polka-dot lining on the jacket, create a bespoke finished look.
