This vintage late 1940s drop-waist dress is very much designed in the style of Christian Dior's iconic "New Look." Hallmarks of this "New Look" include rounded shoulders, a cinched waist (preferably with a fitted drop-waist bodice), and a very full skirt— all present here! It was designed to be worn as a hostess dress, at home while entertaining guests, and zips down the front. I love this dress because it's really easy to dress up or down and take from day to night. It's also so timeless and classic. The bodice is beautifully fitted, with a drop waist dipping lower on each side, creating the illusion of an hourglass silhouette. The embroidered lace collar and cuffs feature dainty embellishment. There are ties at the neck, and shoulder pants to create that romantic sloped shape. The skirt is a very full circle-skirt cut, and there is a built in lining that helps to emphasize the fullness; you could also wear with a crinoline petticoat for that more exaggerated full look.
Measurements: This will likely fit an X-Small, Small, and Medium; it is shown on a size X-Small and it is not as fitted, but still works, and will be much more fitted to the body on a size Small/Medium.Shoulders: not defined as there is no shoulder seam, about 15" Chest: about 36" Waist: 28" High-to-mid hips: 33-34" (taken from where the bodice ends, about 4-4.5" from natural waist) Length: 48.5" from shoulder to hem.
