Vintage 1950s Bow Appliqué Slip Skirt Deadstock
Vintage 1950s Bow Appliqué Slip Skirt Deadstock
This romantic vintage 1950s slip skirt is giving "coquette core" vibes, with its sweet bow appliqué. Vintage half slips are such an amazing styling piece, as there are so many different ways to wear them: they make amazing swim coverups, can be worn as a regular skirt, and can also be layered under shorter dresses or sheer dresses and skirts— this one, in that case, would provide a fun pop by way of the details and sheer mesh trim at its hem. This one would be so cool with tights (think thick white stockings!) layered under! You could also pull it lower and wear it on the hips.
Note that there is a pillow tab on the waistband, making it all the more valuable for vintage lingerie collectors. A pillow tab is a small square of satin fabric on the waistband's interior, that covers the seam to reenforce the seam, and too prevent chafing and irritation when worn. It is considered a sign of quality in vintage lingerie. The thoughtful details that went into the construction of clothing of this era never ceases to astound me— even pieces that were meant to be worn as undergarments! The waistband is elasticized and has a lot of stretch to it, making the sizing flexible, with an A-line shape through the skirt.
The Vintage Italian Black Lace Camisole pictured is also available.
