This rare vintage 1950s Hattie Carnegie demi-parure consists of a double-strand necklace, and matching stud earrings. Hattie Carnegie is a pioneering female American designer who began her career as a milliner in 1909 and eventually expanded to ready-to-wear in 1919, and to jewelry in the 1930s. Pieces by Hattie Carnegie are held in museums around the world, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institue in New York City. These pieces are made from the unusual, high-quality Pate de Verre beads typically used by Hattie Carnegie, which have a stunning marbled effect that draw the eye in. I love that the necklace has a stunning lapis lazuli-effect clasp, which can be worn in the back, or to one side. The necklace measures around 21" total length, and the clip-on earrings are about 3 cm in length. Signed Hattie Carnegie.
