This vintage Mexican embroidered circle skirt was made in Mexico in the 1950s, featuring traditional Mexican embroidery techniques. There is evidence of embroidered clothing in present-day Mexico dating back at least 2,500 years; originally these techniques were used on the cloaks and garments adorning deceased nobility. This skirt is made of a dark chocolate brown cotton/linen blend with a beautiful slub to it. It has a defined waistband, with gathering at the waist giving way to a full skirt. The orange and white embroidery at the hem pops against the dark background. From the embroidery to the construction, it's evident this piece was made by hand. It closes with two buttons at the side waistband, and snaps on the top side opening. Note that there is about 2" at the hem if you wanted to let the hem out and make it longer; pictured on someone 5'7". The Vintage Swiss Dot Blouse and Vintage Braided Silver Bracelet pictured is also available.
