This incredible one-of-a-kind silk chiffon jumpsuit is the type of special find that vintage dreams are made of. Made by hand in the 1960s, it was clearly inspired by the popular television program "I Dream of Jeannie." It is a jumpsuit crafted from billowing sheer silk chiffon, lined in the same color, with embellishment at the waistband and neckline, and a sheer panel from the chest to the neckline. The pants are gathered with elastic at the hem to create a draped harem pant shape. The nature of the elastic is such that the hem can be pushed up inside more to heighten that effect. No fiber contents are listed as it was custom made.
Measurements: This piece was cut for someone petite-average height and will probably be best on someone 5'5" or shorter (although exact body proportions play a factor). Shown on someone 5'7" and the length is a bit short (in the torso as well). It will best fit a size X-Small but please refer to below measurements to be sure.
Chest: 34.5" laid flat
Waist: 25" laid flat, up to 26" stretched
Hips: about 34" (this includes some seam separation that occurred to lining which made the hips a bit larger; see below)
Rise: 12.25" (from crotch to waistband)
Inseam: 24"
Total length: about 48" from shoulder to hem
Good, wearable vintage condition, but please note that this was handmade by a home seamstress and has some minor imperfections. Overall, they don't detract from the unique beauty and wearability of this piece. There is some loss to the embellishment, as shown;
it's possible to remove entire rows to make it look more uniform, but in my opinion,
it kind of contributes to the overall effect (that sort of pirate/genie vibe). There is some seam separation to the lining that would be very easy to repair, but please see measurement notes above.
