Vintage 1970s Long Sleeve Sequin Gown with Flower Appliqué

This incredible vintage sequin gown is reminiscent of Alessandro Michele's work at Gucci, and more recently at Valentino. Though the gown is from the 1970s, it feels so modern and relevant, and would not look out of place on a red carpet today. It was custom-made in the early 1970s for a socialite of European nobility, who was prominent in both New York and European circles, and had an important collection of fashion and jewelry... including this gown! The quality is truly incredible, with hand-finished details and thoughtful construction. It is completely blanketed in black sequins— these sequins are SO rich and expensive, looking, giving the dress a "wet" look. At the chest is has a silk organza rose. The sleeves have an amazing sleek, fitted shape, which is achieved with a hidden zipper at the cuffs. It's fitted through the bodice with a defined waist, creating a flattering shape, complete with a  straight column skirt. Hand finished details throughout really elevate this piece. This dress is bra-friendly; it has "bra-holder" straps at the shoulder, which snap to hold a bra strap in place, so that it's not slipping out/becoming visible at the neckline. This is just one of many thoughtful construction elements that make this dress so luxurious and special— there are also protectors at the underarm's interior to prevent discoloration from perspiration. It closes with a zipper down the back.

Measurements: Note that there is excess fabric inside the dress that make it very easy to let out and make larger. (The seam allowance has the same embellishment which allows it to be easily taken out without changing the embellishment/design of the dress.) Likewise, it could be very easily taken in using these same existing seams. As-is, it will fit a size Small/ Medium depending on your exact proportions, though it could be let out to fit up to a size X-Large— Please refer to below measurements to be sure! It is shown oversized on a size X-Small.

Chest: 38" laid flat, up to 42" considering all the gathering at the chest (this is designed to be worn with a bra, can also be taken in easily)
Empire waist: 31" laid flat, up to 32" pulled taut
Waist: 28" laid flat, 29" pulled taut
Hips: 38" (1/1.5" give)
Length: 57.75" from shoulder to hem

Great vintage condition, with minor wear commensurate with age. The flower is slightly faded, but it feels like part of the design as the coloring is ombré; it does not read as a flaw.
