Circa 1968/1969, this rare vintage Adele Simpson maxidress features a tie-front bodice with a cutout midriff, giving the illusion of a skirt and top, despite being one piece. Adele Simpson was really a pioneer of this cutout trend, which at the time, was very novel! Active from the 1920s until the 1980s, Simpson always seemed to capture the zeitgeist of each era she designed in. This look amazingly captures the spirit of the late 1960s/early 1970s. The bodice and skirt each feature a provençal floral print, which are different but work together so harmoniously. It's done in a lightweight and breathable cotton poplin, with a lined skirt to prevent sheerness. The top actually ties closed in the front, and the waist closes with a series of hidden snaps— the entire thing is beautifully made!
