Vintage Cacharel Marigold Shirtwaist Dress
Vintage Cacharel Marigold Shirtwaist Dress
This vintage Cacharel shirtwaist dress has a fitted bodice, which gives way to a full skirt, pleated at waistband to create volume. Born Jean Louis Henri Bousquet, Jean "Cacharel" began his clothing line in France in the 1950s, becoming a leading voice in the French ready-to-wear market. By the 1960s Cacharel was well known for his women's shirts— a garment which, until this time, was reserved for menswear. Circa 1970s, this dress is exemplary of this style, fusing the femininity of Christian Dior's "New Look" with the everyday approachability of a classic button down shirt. It's full of luxe details like fabric-covered buttons, puffed cap sleeves, and a tie belt. The belt can be tied in the front, or the back. The fiber contents are not indicated but it feels like a cotton blend, making it wearable through all seasons. The Vintage Ciner Pearl Earrings pictured are also available.
