These vintage hammered gold and pearl earrings are a breath of fresh air, with their Elsa Schiaparelli-inspired surrealist swirl motif. The sculptural silhouette and hammered surface reminds me of the jewelry Pablo Picasso and Alexander Calder were creating in the mid-20th century (which is now fetching hundreds of thousands of dollars, despite being constructed of humble materials). They fasten with a clip-on lever back and are very lightweight and comfortable; vintage clip-ons are so much more comfortable and secure to wear compared to their modern counterparts, largely due to the quality and thought that went into their hand-made construction. Good vintage condition overall; one of the pearl drops has a minor nick in it, but it is on the back-facing side of the stone.
