Vintage 1960s Couture Printed Velvet Gown with Tiered Ruffle Hem

This incredibly special, one-of-a-kind vintage couture 1960s gown is crafted of rich velvet with an oversized abstract floral pattern, featuring red florals on a rich evergreen background. This color story makes it especially wonderful for the holidays, but it doesn't scream "holiday" so much as it make it too specific. It was custom-made in the 1960s for a socialite of European nobility, who was prominent in both New York and European circles, and had an important collection of fashion and jewelry, including this dress! The ultra-flattering square neckline is wide, with a slightly curved cut that really accentuates the curves in a subtle and unique way.  It is fitted through the bodice, with gathering at the chest, and a waistband at the empire waist, remaining fitted through the natural waist with shaping seams, giving way to an A-line skirt. I love the tiers of flounce  at the hem, defined by contrasting red satin details. This dress is bra-friendly; it has "bra-holder" straps at the shoulder, which snap to hold a bra strap in place, so that it's not slipping out/becoming visible at the neckline. This is just one of many thoughtful construction elements that make this dress so luxurious and special— there are also protectors at the underarm's interior to prevent discoloration from perspiration. It closes with a zipper down the back.

Measurements: Note that there is excess fabric inside the dress that make it very easy to let out and make larger. Likewise, it could be very easily taken in using these same existing seams. As-is, it will fit a size Small/Medium, though it could be let out to fit a significantly larger size. It is shown clipped on a size X-Small to simulate proper fit.

Chest: 36.5" laid flat, up to 40.5" considering all the gathering at the chest (this is designed to be worn with a bra, can also be taken in easily)
