This rare vintage Trifari demi-parure includes a necklace and matching bracelet, in a floral motif that is very iconic to the Trifari brand and highly collectible. Made by Trifari in the late 1950s/early 1960s, both pieces feature an intricate swirling golden chain, serving as a backdrop for intricate flowers. Each flower is set with handfuls of aurora borealis crystals, giving the maximum sparkle, with the aurora borealis stones refracting light that subtly changes hues. The craftsmanship is so beautiful, and can be attributed to Alfred Philippe, Trifari's designer from 1930-1968, who was already famous for developing an invisible stone setting for Van Cleef & Arpels. The gold-tone metal is likely Trifanium, a proprietary alloy Trifari developed; after World War II, gold was scarce, and there was an increased interest in luxury quality costume jewelry. Trifanium was developed to be durable and resistant to tarnish, but closely resemble genuine solid gold, which is why these pieces have stood the test of time, looking like-new after 70 years, and will continue to maintain that same appearance. The necklace is adjustable with a fish hook clasp, allowing it to be adjusted in length from 13.5" to 16", allowing it to fall at the perfect length with a variety of necklines. The bracelet measures 7 3/8" and closes with a foldover clasp. Both pieces are signed TRIFARI.
