Vintage Puff Sleeve Flocked Floral Gown with Flower Appliqué

This incredibly unique, of-of-a-kind vintage gown was custom-made in the late 1970s/early 1980s for a socialite of European nobility, who was prominent in both New York and European circles, and had an important collection of fashion and jewelry; the dress is completely one-of-a-kind, and you will never find another! It's amazingly constructed, full of hand-finished details. The fabric is flocked with velvet details, creating texture, which along with brushstroke print, really gives the impression of a three-dimensional oil painting with visible, raised brushstrokes. If the detail wasn't rich enough, it also feature oversized flower appliqué, rendered with incredible detail— note the green stamen in the flowers' center. I love the sweetheart neckline, showing some décolletage in an otherwise-covered look. The dramatic puff sleeve really tapers towards the cuff— the fit is achieved with hidden zippers at the cuffs. With a waist seam at the underbust, the waist is fitted through the natural waist with shaping seams, giving that hourglass "snatched" look, which is supported by the puff sleeves and sweetheart neckline on top. The skirt falls in a column shape, which effectively tempers the other more dramatic elements of the dress. This dress is bra-friendly; it has "bra-holder" straps at the shoulder, which snap to hold a bra strap in place, so that it's not slipping out/becoming visible at the neckline. This is just one of many thoughtful construction elements that make this dress so luxurious and special— there are also protectors at the underarm's interior to prevent discoloration from perspiration. It closes with a zipper down the back.

Measurements: Note that there is excess fabric inside the dress that make it very easy to let out and make larger. Likewise, it could be very easily taken in using these same existing seams. As-is, it will fit up to a size Medium, though it could be let out to fit up to a size Large or possibly larger. It is shown on a size X-Small clipped somewhat to simulate proper fit.

Chest: 38" laid flat, up to 39.5/40" considering all the gathering at the chest (this is designed to be worn with a bra, can also be taken in easily)

Length: 57.75" from shoulder to hem (there is excess fabric in the hem to let it out as well if it needs to be longer)

Great vintage condition, with minor wear commensurate with age.
