This vintage reversible quilted chapan-Style coat was made in Uzbekistan, in the style of a chapan. This piece is very much unisex/genderless. A chapan is a part of the traditional dress in this region, which traditionally could indicate social status, depending on the fabric used. However, note that this piece was produced for export; I note this specifically to tell you that wearing pieces like this are NOT an offensive appropriation. This coat features lush velvet on one side and a vibrant floral block print on the other— I love it worn with the sleeves slightly rolled to show this contrast, which will also peek through as you move. It is heavily quilted with cotton filling, making it feel super cozy and warm—almost like wrapping yourself inn a blanket, but in the chicest way. It's very substantial!
Measurements: Note that the sizing is very flexible depending on desired fit; it is unisex/genderless. Shown on a size X-Small, will likely fit X-Small, Small, Medium, Large... please refer to below measurements to be sure, and note that it's very thick due to the reversible nature, so keep that in mind when considering measurements.
(*There is no shoulder seam, it has a true "kimono sleeve" in that the sleeves are cut from the same piece of fabric as the rest of the body of the coat.)
Chest: about 53" laid flat (no closure, so there is flexibility)
Length: 51" from shoulder to hem
Sleeve: 21.5" uncuffed
Great vintage condition, with minor wear commensurate with age. With any questions about the specific condition or size, please email shop@verybreezy.com for additional photos or measurements, as all sales are final.
