This vintage Thierry Mugler Fall 2000 skirt suit is an iconic piece of archival fashion history. It walked the runway at the Fall 2000 show, which focused on futuristic aestethic. Everything here is classic Mugler, with the nipped waist, offset by the sculptural peplum details at the hips, creating that sexy, exaggerated hourglass shape Thierry Mugler is so known for. Thierry Mugler and his work have been the subject of many a museum retrospective for a reason: he is responsible for defining the fashion landscape of the late 1980s and early 1990s, with his unabashedly feminine, sensual, borderline-campy perspective. Note the horizontal satin inlay are constructed to create an hourglass illusion. The construction is just unbelievable, and so incredibly flattering! Light shoulder pads round out the silhouette. The skirt is fully fitted, and so expertly shaped to sit high on the waist and remain fitted through the hips. Note that the back zip closure is hidden in one of the back darts— again, the craftsmanship here and attention to detail is simply unparalleled. Each of these pieces is just as wonderful worn separately— this set is actually so many different looks in one amazing investment. Made in France.
