Vintage Thierry Mugler Floral Pique Skirt Suit

This iconic vintage Thierry Mugler skirt suit is classic Mugler in so many ways. It hails from the Spring 1997 collection (see below). First, we have the incredible sculptural nature of the bodice, which is built out like a corset to create an exaggerated hourglass shape. Bra cups are built out at the  chest, with the waist nipped in dramatically, giving way to an exaggerated peplum shape at the hips. Look at all those shaping seams— the construction is just unbelievable. Slight shoulder pads round out the look. This set is so special and truly one of my favorite things I've ever put on— it makes you feel like a million dollars! Additionally, the material is the cotton pique fabric that Mugler loved to use. It's so good for a warm-weather alternative to these shapes which you'll usually fine in wool. Snaps close the front,  with decorative non-functional flap pockets at the hips. The matching skirt is high-waisted and fitted through the hips. Made of cotton in France.

Measurements: This will best fit a size X-Small/Small. Marked a size 38 (both pieces) but please refer to below measurements.

Jacket:

Shoulders: 14.5" between shoulder seams; puffed shoulder (and shoulder pads) extend further

Chest: about 34" laid flat 

Waist: 26.5"

Length: 26.75" from shoulder to longest point of hem; 22.75" to shorter point/side of hem

Skirt:

Waist: 25.5" laid flat, up to 26" pulled taut

Hips: 37"

Length: just shy of 20" long
