Vintage Thierry Mugler Spring 1992 "LES COWBOYS" Lace-up Jacket + Skirt Suit

This absolutely ICONIC vintage Thierry Mugler skirt suit hails from the Spring 1992 Les Cowboys collection, arguably one of  one of his most impressive. Pieces from the collection are universally considered museum-worthy, with some pieces from the collection residing in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This jacket is complete with many details that made this collection so very iconic. First, it is complete with the lace-up details, both places asymmetrically on the bodice, and at the cuffs. The snap closures are adorned with sculptural details resembling canine teeth. The peplum and cutout neckline are so classic Thierry Mugler, and this neckline features especially sculptural shapes, resembling flames, a hallmark of the Spring 1992 collection. This silhouette forms a flattering hourglass shape.  Note that the shoulders and sleeves are meant to be a bit more relaxed/oversized. It has slit pockets in the front. I love these pieces because there are so many ways they can be worn— as a set, or mixed separately. The skirt has a high waist and a fitted pencil skirt shape that Mugler always nailed! Made in France.

Measurements: Both pieces are marked a size 42. Shown on a size X-Small somewhat pinned to simulate a proper fit. Note that the shoulders and sleeves are meant to be a bit more relaxed/oversized. This fits close to a modern size Medium, but please refer to below measurements to be sure.

Jacket:

Shoulders: about 17" (shoulders are dropped/sloped so actual shoulder seams extend further) 

Chest: 42"

Waist: 30"

Length: 25.5" from shoulder to longest point of hem (side hem is about 2.5" shorter)

Sleeves: 22.5"

Skirt:

Waist: 29"

Hips 39.5" (up to about 40" pulled taut)

Length: 21.25"

Great vintage condition. I do not believe these pieces were ever worn. The  tailor's tack at the front jacket pocket is still in tact (pockets are sewn shut).
