This vintage Y2K babydoll dress has a super coquette vibe, in a striking Tiffany blue taffeta, with a beautiful iridescence. The construction is quite unique: it's fitted through the chest, with an almost bandeau-top, bra-like effect, with an empire waist that flares to an A-line mini-length, for a true babydoll shape. From the side are two long sashes, which are designed to create a lace-up corset-like effect in the back, but can be tied several different ways, for different looks— this can create added shape through the body and adjust the fit. It can be laced up, or just wrapped and tied. (There are thread loops on either side, and one horizontal loop in the center back that help to achieve these looks/hold the ties in place.) The center of the chest has a knot effect, and the way it's pleated here gives the appearance of a ribbon trailing down the center front from the chest. All of the ribbon imagery is giving a super coquette, ballet-core vibe. This dress is deadstock vintage, never worn, with original retail tags still attached. This dress retailed for $189 in the early 2000s, which would be about $335 in today's money.
Measurements: This dress should fit up to a size Medium (likely including size Small and X-Small); it is shown unpinned on a size X-Small and still works— Note that the lace-up back can create added shape through the body and adjust the fit somewhat. Marked a vintage size 8 but in my opinion it fits a bit smaller.
