This vintage bubble dress was made in France by the label Yves St. Tropez, a luxury brand popular during the 1970s-1980s, known for luxury quality garments inspired by Parisian Haute Couture, produced exclusively in France and Italy. This dress is so special and SO beautifully made; it was custom made for a specific client and the quality really shines through. It's crafted from Tiffany-blue taffeta, with a beautiful iridescence. The fitted bodice includes boning, while the skirt features a bubble hem. The taffeta was clearly well selected to hold its shape in the bubble silhouette. I absolutely love the layered scalloped appliqué at the neckline and hem- it reminds me of fish scales, especially in this gorgeous opalescent blue. The matching belt is detachable, so it can also be worn without. I love that this style borrows a lot from 1950s party dresses, showing how fashion constantly looks back throughout the eras. On the interior, the quality is also evident; there is a waist stay on the interior waistband, which along with the boning, lends a snatched hourglass shape.
