1940s Artisanal Mexican Silver Birdcage Parue
1940s Artisanal Mexican Silver Birdcage Parue
This incredible birdcage parure (earrings and pendant/brooch set) was made in Mexico in the 1940s by hand, by a talented Mexican silversmith. It is very much reminiscent of the iconic statement jewelry favored by Frida Khalo, as she is often depicted wearing in her self-portraits. It features birdcages wrought by hand, with an actual hinged door that swings open— something could be placed inside each piece. (Please refer to the videos shared among the product images to see it in motion.) The earrings sit on sterling silver hoops (these are not original to the piece) and the pendant could be worn interchangeably, either on a chain as a necklace, or on the original brooch as intended. A sterling silver chain can be added with this product if you need one. The elements are all hand-wrought sterling silver. The Vintage Victorian Style Maxidress pictured is also available.
Great vintage condition, with a natural patina, which can also be polished if desired. With any questions about the specific condition or size, please email shop@verybreezy.com for additional photos or measurements, as all sales are final.
