Vintage 1950s Slavic Hand-Embroidered Linen Peasant Blouse
Vintage 1950s Slavic Hand-Embroidered Linen Peasant Blouse
This incredible rare authentic vintage embroidered peasant blouse was made in present day Poland/Ukraine, and features the most beautiful hand-embroidery, with lattice open-work at the sleeves. Circa late 1940s/early 1950s, the heavy linen it is crafted from has a unique ability to hold its structure, which is especially helpful with the cropped yet intentionally oversized silhouette. The split neck has a hidden hook/eye closure at the chest. The shoulders are dropped, with 3/4 sleeves that flare to a slight bell shape. The cropped length makes it so easy to wear and flattering, especially just with simple jeans. (It would have been worn with a skirt, apron, etc. as part of traditional folk dress.)
The Vintage Sculptural Silver Earrings pictured are also available.
Measurements: Will fit a wide range of sizes depending on desired fit; Shown unpinned on a size X-Small, will likely fit a X-Small/Small/Medium/Large but please refer to below measurements to be sure
Shoulders: shoulders are dropped (see images); 19.75" between shoulder seams
Chest: about 41.5" laid flat (more room if worn unhooked at split neck, plus a bit of leeway thanks to the pleat in back)
Opening at hem: 47"
Sleeves: 14"
Length: 20" from true shoulder to hem
Great vintage condition overall, with minor wear commensurate with age; Note that the blouse is handmade so there are some irregularities, which only add to its artisanal "folk" charm. There is some minor discoloration/scuffing which isn't visible when worn, and it presents as nearly perfect! With any questions about the specific condition or size, please email shop@verybreezy.com for additional photos or measurements, as all sales are final.
